Star Wars

Does anyone have any of the Star Wars movies on DVD? (Is Episode 3 even out yet?)

I have been promising Caleb that we would watch them, and now that we are moved into the house we are ready to get started. I am hoping to watch them for 6 consecutive weeks, one a week. Maybe on Friday nights? Anyone want to join us?

Last day game request

Hey--just wanted to throw out a proposal for something to do during the day on Saturday, if people aren't busy...I just thought it might be fun to get together and play some games (video, board, card, whatever) during the day so Andrew can come. Particularly, if anyone wants to play some XBox or whatever, just give me a call @ 719-964-8665.

I also think we need to set up a serious game day, with the board games, croquet, etc. sometime (hint, hint Wade/Dara)...Just a thought.

Peace

The Prayer of Intercession

So, I just wanted to post some of the thoughts and verses that we went over last night. I pray that you were blessed by interceding for others, and I pray that you will be convicted about continuing to pray over the specific requests that you had in your small group last night.

Prayer of Intercession. This is where we take other peoples requests to God on their behalf, interceding for them – that’s a real ministry. We have all been called to be intercessors. Praying for other people is the greatest privilege in life. God gets excited about the prayers of the saints.

Introduction
1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
1 Tim 2:1-2 (NIV)

13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
James 5:13-16 (NIV)

What to pray for?
9 Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.10 He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,11 as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.
2 Cor 1:9-11 (NIV) For HELP!!

1 Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith.
2 Thess 3:1-2 (NIV) Against Evil!

6 I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.
Philem 1:6 (NIV)
3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
Col 4:3-4 (NIV) To share our faith!

Conclusion
1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
Luke 18:1 (NIV)

Croquette, Anyone??

Tomorrow at Kairos we are playing croquette, starting at 7:30pm. Drop in to Kairos early if you would like to join the game!

Also, don’t be forgetting our memory verse that we are working on. We wouldn’t want to be offering the “sacrifice of fools,” now would we?!?!?

ECC 5:1 Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.

UCCS 14ers

We are beginning a new club at UCCS. It is and always will be open to everyone. In fact, it is not even an official club yet. Just in progress. The idea is to create an atmosphere where we can get our friends involved in some activities where we can have fun and really build relationships with them, through climbing mountains!

We have started a blog site specifically for this club. The link is in the side bar. Check it out, and you will be able to see the pictures of our latest adventure!

Happy viewing.

Chronos Groups

We are going to begin something new with Kairos, and it’s called Chronos!

Kairos = A specific moment in time when something happens!
Chronos = The continuum of time, what happens over the long-haul.

We will be forming small groups (2-3 people) for a three-fold purpose of
1) Accountability and encouragement in our Christian walks,
2) Reading Scripture
3) Praying for those who are not yet believers

Rather than posting all the info here, I am going to leave it as a comment on this post. Feel free to copy and paste it into an email or a Word document, so that you can read it later at your leisure.

Remember what we memorized from Psalm 1?

1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

I am firmly convinced that a good healthy dose of God’s Word will bless you beyond measure!
