Garden of the Gods

Based on these last few posts, everyone is going to think that all we do is hike! It was another great hike today. This picture was taken along the Palmer Trail, where we stopped for a little climbing.

We did see a very cool rattlesnake along the trail, and some people even saw some mountain goats. God’s creation is a wild and beautiful thing. We may think that we have tamed it… but watch out!

Eric Gaston was the hero again today, with his infamous last words… “Look guys – a slide!” Dooh. But the scrapes should leave some nice scars – if you look at the bright side of the whole situation.

Thanks to everyone for making the trip so fun!

Manitou Incline!

Wow - now that's a hike! One mile in length, gaining 2100 feet of elevation! The Manitou Incline used to be a train line, but the tracks are now gone, leaving about 5,000 railroad ties to hike up!

Anyway, a group of 13 of us (including Caleb and Anna!) met at 5:30am to begin the assault. Anna and Dad made it about 3/4ths of the way up before bailing out on a shortcut to the trail. Everyone else made it! The record time that I heard was 40 minutes, set by Eric Gaston. (Hhhmmm – when my broken toe gets better I am going to have to challenge that record!)

Great fun, good exercise, God’s mountainside!!!

Kairos Has Come...

"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" -Mark 1:15 (NIV)

The Greek word kairos is the word time in the verse above. It describes a point in time when something happens, a point when a change takes place and there is no going back to the way it used to be.

Wade & Dara Gardner work with Impact Ministries Int. www.impactministries.tv and have partnered up with the local Christian Churches in Colorado Springs, CO. The result is Kairos – a college aged group of people who are hungry for more.

More what? More God, more freedom to live the lives that Christ has died to bring us.

Come join the journey. This web site is dedicated to sharing the adventures, sharing the stories, for growing together in our pursuit of God.
